I currently hold two senior leadership positions at UAMS. I am the Stanley E. Reed Professor and Chair of the Department of Emergency Medicine and the Executive Associate Dean for Clinical Affairs. I transitioned to the Dean’s office after serving as the Chief Clinical Officer for UAMS Health. In my current roles, I have oversight for the academic department of emergency medicine and lead clinical initiatives on behalf of the College of Medicine in partnership with UAMS clinical service lines and UAMS Health leadership.
I am also a husband and father to two wonderful daughters. I love to cook, eat, travel, and enjoy college football.
Why did you decide to take the MHCDS program?
I decided to take the MHCDS program because I felt it was important to have formal education to inform, validate, and advance my professional goals as a senior leader in academic medicine. I also firmly believed it would substantially enhance my professional development and ability to become a change agent in my Health system.
This program came highly recommended by one of my senior mentors. I also had the opportunity to learn more from an alum whose passion for the program was infectious.
What has been the best part of the program for you – so far?
Where do I start? The content and faculty are outstanding. My classmates provide an enriching, safe, and diverse environment to learn, grow, challenge, and be challenged. The administrative staff work seamlessly behind the scenes to make the overall experience exceptionally polished.
